1954 Fender Stratocaster Wayne Moss "Sunburst"
Nashville has certainly earned a reputation for brilliant musicianship, and one of the names you'll see most often on the liner notes of records made in Music City is that of Wayne Moss. A founding member of Area Code 615 and Barefoot Jerry and a prolific sideman, Wayne was part of the first-call list for Nashville sessions for years.
As a session musician he's contributed memorable guitar lines to countless songs by legends like Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Linda Rondstadt and many others, and famously took part in the recording sessions for Bob Dylan's masterpiece Blonde on Blonde. Wayne's iconic guitar work is heavily featured on the track I Want You from that album, and this is the guitar used on that and so many other timeless songs!
This is an original 1954 Fender Stratocaster owned by Moss for many years. At some point he refinished the guitar himself, and in 1960 requested a replacement neck from Fender guitars in Fullerton. By mistake he was sent a brand new, 1960 Telecaster neck with a slab rosewood fingerboard. This is the neck used on the guitar for most of his session work in the years to come and the guitar includes both the replacement Tele neck and the original '54 Strat neck.
This guitar comes to us directly from Wayne Moss. It includes many photos and recording samples, as well as a copy of his official biography and a museum program from the Country Music Hall of Fame who ran an exhibit on the "Nashville Cats" session musicians, including an exhibit on Moss.
This is a unique opportunity for a collector to purchase not just a fantastic vintage guitar with two original Pre-CBS necks, but also a piece of music history! This may be one of the most recorded Strats of all time and it is a true privilege to offer this piece of American Music History for sale!
