Short for "research and development" the RD series of Gibson guitars featured new active electronics designed in collaboration with synth pioneer Bob Moog. This 1977 example is in great shape and fully functional. It features a beautiful "Natural" finish, gold hardware, and an ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlays. A comfortable three piece maple neck and "Reverse" body design round out this unique model that has become much harder to find in recent years, especially with original electronics intact. The active Moog-designed circuit features a compression/expansion circuit, bright mode, and separate treble and bass controls.
