2014 Gibson Les Paul Peter Frampton “Phenix” Prototype #4
The tale of Peter Frampton's modified 1954 Gibson Les Paul Custom is one of the greatest in Rock & Roll redemption. Famed for gracing the cover of the 1976 best selling "Frampton Comes Alive" the guitar was thought lost in a 1980 plane crash in Caracas, Venezuela, only to turn up 30 years later. Rising from the ashes it earned its nickname "Phenix". In 2015 the Gibson Custom Shop worked with Frampton to create a limited run of 35 aged recreations, this 2014 prototype is #4 from that collaboration. This early sample features an aged neck emulating the fire-kissed headstock, but the body remains unaged making this prototype unique. Not only is this an opportunity to own a part of a rock & roll legend, its also a killer player!
